The Banger Colts traveled to the Royal Thai Air Force ground at Don Muang of the match against the Royal Thai Army.
The early signs were that the game would not be an easy one. The Army started forcefully with a series of short passing, close-quarter drives up the middle of the field occasionally letting the ball out to their backs. It was the Army who set the scoreboard ticking over.
There was plenty of running, passing and movement and indeed the exchanges were frantic It was an exciting and entertaining match. The Colts competed well in the scrum, were lively around the pitch however, squandered attacking opportunities. The line out continues to be problem and needs work.
The Colt defense, one of the Banger strengths this year however, on Sunday defensive frailties were exposed. The army outside backs were brilliant who time and again. seemed to break through first tackles.
For large parts of the match the Army looked the more threatening but time and again the Colts clawed their way back. In open play the Colts were quick to the breakdown and would have had the edge at the scrum in the second half. However, two yellow cards were costly. The Army were quick to seize the opportunity and added points to the board.
The Colts should be commended with their never-say-die attitude. Michael Louw was selected by the coach as Man of the Match. Michael had a mammoth game, working hard all afternoon. Final Score : Royal Thai Army 40, Banger Colts 26.
