Last Saturday afternoon Thai, expat and regional ASEAN teams assembled at National Stadium for the rugby tens competition, part of the Byron Kelleher Charity Match completion. It was a great afternoon of festival rugby.
What made the event really special, were the French International players that came to Bangkok for the tournament. Each was allocated a different club to play for. The Bangers were fortunate to draw Serge Betsen, one of France’s greatest ever rugby players. He certainly made an impact and offered tons of advice however, the Bangers were not able win all their pool matches and had to be satisfied with two draws and two wins. The Pattaya Panthers our eastern seaboard neighbors, won the tournament not losing a match all afternoon. Jimmy Howard would have to be a happy sand boy.
