Last weekend, the Banger Colts hosted the Jakarta Komodos in a SEA Cup Challenge game. This was game the Colts were looking forward too after a suffering a heavy defeat mid week against Vajiravudh Old Boys. The Colts were out to make amends.
And this they did, with flair and style producing an outstanding performance and were in a confident mood all afternoon. The Colts scored an amazing nine tries against the Komodos, who caught Bangers at their best. It was one of those days. The Banger forwards decided who was going to win the game and the Banger backs decided by how many. Despite the absence of three key players the Colts were not troubled. Their replacements stepped up.
It would have been difficult for Andy Raming, the coach, to pick the man of the match. Standout performances from James Jackson, Benjamin Rawson, Adrien Simon, Martin Layshone, Simon Williams, Ryan Bull-Beddows Mike Swagger and Andrew Tatam get worthy mention.
In the second half the Colts, continued to enjoy territorial advantage adding points despite the determined Jakarta defense. Midway through the stanza the Komodos momentarily halted Banger momentum, and showed their attacking potential with their fine backs . However, the Colts were going to have nothing of this and hit back immediately.
The Komodos lost a player in the first five minute and unfortunately was taken to a local hospital on a stretcher for an overnight stay. Jakarta was also shy a couple of a players when they arrived in Bangkok. Two Colts stepped forward and played for the Komodos
After the game, both teams met at the Banger club rooms for a memorial night. The evening started slowly but soon gain momentum. Reports are still coming in. Apparently five kegs of beer were polished off with consummate ease. Final Score : Banger Colts 55. Jakarta Komodos 5
