Colts Win A Cliff Hanger

The Banger Colts and Rattanabandit University battled out a pulsating Thai Rugby Union match last Sunday afternoon securing their first win in the competition

It was not going to be an easy afternoon when the Colts found themselves short of a couple of players at game time. Team management reacted quickly roping in a couple of the Bangers senior social members who had planned an afternoon of watching. Bob Pearson and Martin Hodgson stepped up.

The Colts made a bright start and had the students pinned inside their own half for much of the first stanza They hit form at the right point of the game dominating the tight and in commanding form at the breakdown and at the line out. Both teams produced some great defense and it was a credit to all players involved that the standard was so high. The student try line was denied on three occasions by the resilient, young, fit Thais.

The winning point were scored by Maxim Labardin who slotted a difficult penalty late in the second half.

Rattanabandit University were a tenacious opponent and never gave up however, lapses in their discipline led to a couple of unnecessary second half fiery exchanges. The Colts had to work hard to earn this victory. It was no walk in the park. Final Score : Banger Colts 8. Rattanabandit University 7
