The Banger Colts produced one of their greatest performances to win over Piyachadpattana School last weekend at the Royal Thai Police Stadium. After last weeks encounter the Bangers were looking for a more convincing performance against another very good Thai student side. The Colts ran onto the field with thirteen men in a determined fashion eager for the challenge. They were not fazed by being shorthanded.
The opening exchanges were tight as could be expected, with both sides anxious to seize the initiative. The Bangers had early chances with the forwards making some penetrating runs from inside their own half setting up some good back line play.
The Thai students had a couple very useful forwards and deceptively fast outside backs. However they were matched at every turn by some tremendous defense. This was a fascinating battle. The momentum shifted towards Piyachadpattana School late in the first half with handling errors putting the Bangers under pressure. At half time the game was even
Whatever was said during the break certainly had the desired effect and the Colts came out firing and doing it in style, The student forward pack was beginning to tire and the Bangers took advantage of this. Piyachadpattana were now finding it difficult to penetrate the gain line as the Banger defense gave little room and ground forcing the students to kick away possession on numerous occasions.
The Bangers kept the majority of mult phased attack tightly controlled by the forwards till the right moment then feeding the inside backs Maxime Labardin, Adrien Simon and Kilea Fakua. What made this victory special was, it was achieved with thirteen men on the pitch. Tremendous stuff. This one will be talked about for a while.
