Yellowbellies 2004

On Constitution Day we faced the formidable task of pitting our lack of ability, fitness and technique against the Yellow Bellies from New Zealand. They  had arrived in Thailand a few days previously and had used the time well to acclimatise themselves to the Thai beer (a little too well!).

Here’s what Rick the Prick had to say about the match…

Thanks to the Southerners and John Prichard and the guys from the British Club who  assisted us to beat the previous unbeaten Yellow Bellies from Hamilton, NZ. Following their version of the haka and the first big hit, we knew then it was a full on game.  Bring on the Chiefs! Up two tries to one and five minutes to go we were pinned on our own goal line the whole time. Thrust after thrust penalty after penalty but still the defence held ..an awesome effort.. then a loose ball and Billy sidestepped his man to run 95 yards to score on the final whistle…
