Bangkok Bangers vs Royal Bangkok Sports Club
On Tuesday the 12th of September the Bangkok Bangers began their 15s league tournament at the Royal Bangkok Sports Club playing against the hosts RBSC and knowing it was always going to be tough against the hosts and home team.
1st half started messy from both teams as it was our first 15s game in a year but the Bangers were definitely ready for anyone that ran at them with big hits and hard runs to show RBSC that we were here to play some rugby and make a statement. The score remained 0 – 0 for the first 20 minutes with a lot of errors from both teams and booth packs of forwards were getting tired with a lot of scrums due to the slippery surface. In the 27rd minute Darryn decided to take a quick penalty and take on a few of the forwards after getting 3 meters away form the line and making an offload to Travis to bust his way over the line to open the score board. Which then Darryn converted making the score 7 – 0. RSBC bounced back with a penalty to make the score 7 – 3 at half time.
2nd half began a lot better for the Bangers in their attack and defence but a lack of disciple at the rucks and giving a numerous amount of penalties was resulting in the Bangers not been able to gain momentum. After 15 minutes in the second half the ball went wide in RSBC’s half and the Ross scored in the corner to make the score 12 – 0 with the conversion to come. Darryn made the conversion from the corner despite having the entire Bangers supporters right next team and his feet in between beer bottles and Jeff (manager) making comments. Taking the score to 14 – 3. The last 15 minutes the Bangers showed true guts and determination when we defended for the last 15 minutes of the game and were not letting RBSC close to our tryline. Final score 14 – 3.
Another great effort from the Bangkok Bangers and massive thank you to the amount of support we had down at RBSC.
Once again I can say I’m proud captain, player, friend and family member of the Bangkok Bangers and looking forward to the next one already.
