Late yesterday afternoon at Patana International School, the Old Bangkok Bangers played two social games against the California Bald Eagles a touring side of veteran players from across the United States on the Thailand leg of the South East Asian tour.
Inclement weather and no ground lighting meant that both games were shorten to two twenty minutes halves. This in no way distracted from the spectacle. Both clubs played entertaining rugby in the spirit of the veteran rugby code. The Bangers pulled off wins in both games however, the scores were unimportant. The fun, friendship and fraternity will be remembered by all that participated.
After the games, the players and supporters of both clubs migrated to the Red & White for one of the great nights at this suburban Banger hangout. Beer flowed, stories were told and the truth stretched, all important elements of post game proceedings. Grahame Fox and Simon Davies were thanked by the visitors for arranging the transport and social activity during their stay in Bangkok.
