The Banger Colts recorded a narrow win in a highly competitive match against the Royal Thai Police last Saturday afternoon at the Police Stadium. This was another pre season friendly match in preparation for the TRU competition starting in two weeks.
This was a tight game which went right down to the wire. Both teams will be better for the experience of a game like this. For the Colts composure and execution at key times saw them through. Defensively the Colts were effective, but in attack they can reflect on moments they could have been handled better.
Another dominant scrummaging performance laid a great platform, though it was always tight in midfield with the Police backs a constant threat. The Thai Police did seem to have the edge in terms of creativity. In the backs, Adrien Simon, Benjamin Rawson and Maxime Saseras had super games with Ben and Maxime scoring magnificent tries. The pick of the forwards were Laurens Notenboom, Chris Fargus, Dillon Weimar and Michael Louw. The interchange bench was busy all afternoon with all Banger replacements getting game time.
The Bangers seem to take their foot off the pedal in the last stanza, with the Police scoring a couple of tries to even the score up. Final Score : Banger Colts 22. Royal Thai Police 20
